HOW TO ACHIEVE A FLAWLESS SPRAY TAN EVERY TIME
Sunless tanning is a tanning method, in which the name implies, without any ultraviolet radiation. It is a spray/mist solution that is applied to your skin, and uses, among other ingredients, erythrulose and DHA (dihydroxyacetone) to react with keratin, the protein in the skin’s epidermis, or outer dead superficial layer, to form a golden brown color.
DHA is non-toxic (although care should be taken not to let it into your eyes or mouth), and derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane. DHA has also been permanently added to the The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) list of approved cosmetic ingredients. Professional spray tan solutions are formulated differently than consumer product “self tanning lotions”, thus do not create an orange look like they can. Your skin will begin to darken within two to three hours after application and reaches it peak within 24 hours of application.
It is advised you take a shower before a spray tan to remove additional dead skin which will make it last longer. Also, avoid rain showers, crying, or any activity which can wet your skin for a few hours afterwards to prevent any streaking. Your skin is also more sensitive to sunlight for 24 hours after a spray tan so limit exposure and plan any regular tanning sessions before your spray tan. The sunless tanning effects will gradually fade with exfoliation just like a regular tan from the sun.

Q: How long does a spray tan last?
A: A VersaSpa spray tan can last up to a week. The skin naturally exfoliates the top layer every week. As the skin naturally exfoliates, the tan fades. For a beautiful, long-lasting tan, it’s important to moisturize daily to keep the skin hydrated so it doesn’t exfoliate sooner.
Q: If I want to be tan on {insert day} when should I get my spray tan?
A: 1-2 days before. If vacation 1 day is best. If wedding, prom etc.- 2 days is best.
Q: How long does the entire process take?
A: You are in and out in 15 minutes
Q: Cost?

Q: When should I shave?
A: Do any waxing 24 hours before. Shaving can be done 12 hours before or anytime after using a new clean razor. A dull razor will scrape off the tan.

Q: Can I workout with a spray tan?
A: I recommend skipping the day after your appt. The tan generally needs 24 hours to set. Then all other workouts should not be longer than 1 hour if you plan to sweat a lot. Tight wet clothes will prematurely fade your tan. Be sure to take off your workout clothes as soon as possible.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SPRAY TAN?
VersaSpa’s advanced technology and ingredients mean getting a beautiful streak-free spray tan every time, without lengthy preparation. But if you’ve been asking yourself, “how do I prepare for a spray tan?” keep in mind these considerations…
1. Waxing/Shaving
The use of waxing products or shaving after spray tanning can remove the upper layers of skin cells along with your tan. If you plan to wax or shave, do so before your spray tan to avoid stripping away your tan too early.
2. Exfoliation
Exfoliation is a great step to take before getting a spray tan. After your shower, dry yourself well to help remove any remaining dead or loose skin cells. This ensures that the spray tan has a smooth new layer of skin. Be sure to exfoliate before your spray tan, not after.
3. Moisturizers
On the day of your spray tan, don’t use any lotions as they might block the absorption of the spray tan solution. Instead, try moisturizing your skin the day before. DO NOT USE any types of oils.
4. After Care
It’s important to keep your skin moisturized after your spray tan. In order to maintain your tan even longer, we recommend using the VersaSpa Gradual Tanning Spa Butter. Not only will the moisturizer in this lotion help lock in the color of your tan, but it also has a gradual tanner to keep your tan longer.
